Intermediate Rifle Mechanics with Kinetic CONS & Emissary CONS

Join us for an intensive 3-day carbine course that will elevate your shooting skills from proximal engagement to extended ranges of 0-700+ yards. This unique collaboration between Jon Dufresne of Kinetic Consulting and Ryan D’Agostino of Emissary Consulting promises a challenging and rewarding experience for shooters looking to enhance their proficiency with rifles.

Course Overview

Day 1: Foundation Building

  • Focus: Flat Range Work
  • Distance: 0-100+ yards
  • Activities: You will engage in various drills designed to refine your basic shooting techniques, including stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, and follow-through. Emphasis will be placed on accuracy and consistency at shorter ranges to build a strong foundation for longer shots.

Day 2: Introducing Distance

  • Focus: Long-Range Shooting Fundamentals
  • Distance: 100-500+ yards
  • Activities: We will expand your skills by introducing longer distances. This day will cover topics such as wind reading, ballistic calculations, and the use of optics. Practical exercises will help you understand and apply these concepts in real-time, improving your confidence and competence at extended ranges.

Day 3: Advanced Techniques and Practical Application

  • Focus: Combining Distances and Positional Shooting
  • Distance: 0-700+ yards
  • Activities: The final day integrates the skills learned, featuring mini-stages and positional shooting drills. You will navigate various shooting scenarios that require quick transitions between different distances and positions, simulating more real-world conditions. This comprehensive approach ensures you can apply your skills in diverse and dynamic environments.

  • Times: Class begins at 0900 and runs until 1700 each day

Prerequisites

This course is designed for individuals who have prior shooting experience and demonstrate safe gun handling skills. Whether you are a seasoned shooter looking to refine your skills or an intermediate shooter aiming to expand your capabilities, this course will provide the training you need to excel.

Instructor Bios:

Jon served with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, deploying multiple times in various capacities. The Ranger Battalion also provided Jon with training and first hand experience in small unit tactics, airborne operations, field medicine, breaching, foreign languages and small arms.

Upon leaving the Army, Jon worked in executive protection and acted as a law enforcement consultant, molding his military experience into a contextual view of the threats faced outside of combat environments. Jon comes to the firearms industry with an ideal blend of military and citizen; shaping his courses to apply to Mil, LE and citizen students alike.

Also know as, @saving_ryans_privatez. Former Instructor of Achilles Heel Tactical and Modern Day Sniper. Current Owner/Instructorof Emissary Consulting and employee of Knight’s Armament. Passion for all things shooting related and teaching. Ryan currently works for Knights Armament doing government related work for them. Ryan has several years experience in training professional Military and Law Enforcement Snipers and civilians both foreign and domestic while working for other leading Instructor companies up until now where he became a one man show. Ryan am also a competitive shooter in multiple disciplines to include Pistol, Scoped Carbine, and Precision Rifle and have been very fortunate to obtain sponsorships in the firearm industry.

Required equipment:

  • Ear and eye protection
  • Zeroed Rifle, LPVO or optic with Magnification, bipod and sling (NO RDS w/ magnifier, it will not work well for this course)
  • 3-5 mags (at least 1x 20rd mag)
  • 1000 -1500 rounds of ammunition (Ammo that shoots well in your rifle. Ideally a 2 MOA or less combination. TD1 can be shot with "practice" ball ammo, but TD2 & TD3 really should be shot with match ammo)
  • 1-2 mag pouches (back pockets work too)
  • Shooting bag(s) (a rear / barricade bag is HIGHLY recommended)
  • Water
  • Personal Individual First aid kit (Gear to be used on you)
  • Marker
  • Notepad
  • Snacks/Lunch
  • Tools for your equipment
  • Cleaning kit w/ oil
  • Rain gear and sunscreen (depending on weather)

Additional but not required equipment:

  • Knee pads
  • Gloves
  • Spare Firearm

 

*Please note: facility has no running water or power. There is no where close enough to go buy lunch during class. Please bring enough food and water to sustain you for the full day.
