$78.85

The SOLGW Quick Ambi Safety comes in various configurations below for both right-handed and left-handed shooters. You can choose if you want a 90-degree or 50-degree throw as well as the type of lever or size of the lever configuration.

The Quick and FCD’s ASF is a joint project between SOLGW and FCD  The two companies have been collaborating on a few projects, starting with the 4140 steel MLOK sling mount (MSQ-H).

The Quick Ambi Safety Selector from SOLGW is a replacement safety selector for the AR-15 platform. This selector has the option for 50 degrees, unlike the standard 90 degrees, between safe and fire shortening the amount of time it takes to switch fire positions. The easy installation and very tactile operation of this Quick safety selector will make you want to replace every safety you have. Sons of Liberty Gun Works puts an immense amount of time into ensuring that every piece that comes from them passes their tough quality control standards so you can expect a great product when you buy any of their products.

The Quick was designed from the ground up to be a defense/duty/combat safety selector, its mission is quite aptly reflected by the way its levers are attached the center, via a stainless steel roll pin.  The lever to center interface is immensely strong, the high shear strength (800 lbs) 420 stainless steel spring steel roll pin simply holds the two in place, and doesn’t handle any load. One of the design goals dictates there be no wobble between the lever and center, we’ve called for very tight tolerances (+0.001/-0.00) on ASF’s lever and center interface to achieve that.

Q levers are offset levers, by shifting the lever closer to the shooter’s thumb when the selector is on SEMI/FIRE, it enables the user to more easily rotate it back to SAFE without shifting his grip.  For that reason, q levers are side specific, the q lever’s “leg” should always be biased towards the top.  With the selector on SEMI/FIRE,  the q lever should look like a letter q (hence its name).

FCD is known to many for the dimpled pattern we use on some control surfaces (AA, or All Angles, is our designation).  ASF levers are serrated, not dimpled.  As the lever rotates, the user’s finger slides on the lever, anything but serrations along the length of the lever only impedes that movement and creates friction for no benefit.  Serrations diagonal or perpendicular to the length of the lever are similarly unhelpful.  Serrations parallel to the lever’s length help mitigate lateral movement, and do not impede the finger’s sliding motion.  ASF lever’s profile isn’t square, its outer most portion is somewhat tapered for a reason. When the user’s hand holds the pistol grip, the profile of the ASF lever conforms to angle of the thumb’s pad.

For our friends and customers that wish to see dimples on the ASF & The Quick, there is a single dimple on both sides to function as a position indicator (in lieu of a pointer), it’s elegant and simple.

As we’re fond of saying, attention to detail matters in its application.

The Quick is shipped with a selector spring, a KNS nitrided selector detent, two levers , 4 roll pins (two are needed for installation, with 2 spares), with a single lever partially assembled.

The Quick centers are billet machined in 8620, heat treated and black nitrided.  Levers are billet machined in 8620 and black nitrided.

The Quick is a collaboration with Forward Controls Design. Made in the USA.

What is the Drive Lock System?

The Drive Lock System is a Patent-Pending design based on a Hodge defense Extrusion that uses a system of wedges that interface with the barrel nut and “drive” it towards the upper receiver as it is tightened. This system clamps on to the barrel nut with extreme force and precision, providing an extremely robust mounting platform.

SOLGW M89 vs L89

What’s the Difference between the M89 and L89?

While both handguards use the patent-pending Drive Lock System, there are a few notable differences that may lead someone to choosing one over the other:

  • The most noticeable difference is the M-LOK Slots. The L89 features 7 sided M-LOK slots, whereas the M89 retains more substantial cutouts for cooling around the handguard, reducing the quantity of M-LOK slots
  • The L89 has an internal QD sling swivel socket built in to the rear of the handguard, whereas the M89 must use an M-LOK QD sling swivel socket
  • The L89 features a titanium barrel nut, which is going to save a good amount of weight compared to the steel barrel nut in the M89 handguard
