The Defense Mechanisms Helion is a lightweight insulated jacket that provides breathable warmth and moderate weather resistance. Designed to be worn in a stand-alone manner, or as a mid-layer with a wet weather protective shell. The face fabric is durable and wind-resistant, while a hard fleece panel at the underarms aids in breathability and helps prevent the user from overheating during strenuous activity.
Patrol Features: Selecting “Yes” to this option will add PTT loops and a badge attachment point to the front of the jacket.

- 2oz/yd² CLIMASHIELD™ APEX insulation performs better than down in wet and humid conditions, dries quickly, packs small, and is easy to clean
- Raglan style sleeves for increased comfort and range of motion
- A drop tail keeps the low back covered during strenuous movements
- Durable Lightweight nylon fabric has a DWR finish
- Large, insulated, zippered hand pockets allow access when wearing a plate carrier and/or duty belt
- Polartec hard-faced fleece sides allow for better ventilation when worn under Personal Protective Equipment, and stretch to enable the easier clearing of the cover garment when the jacket is zipped

Great jacket, very similar to the arcteryx atom series. I really only have two complaints. They don’t baffle the insulation paneling so a tear will be catastrophic if not repaired immediately. It would not cost them much at all to add this. Second, there is no way to adjust the cuffs and the insulation is constantly sagging past them. I imagine after some amount of wear, without any baffling in the back panel the insulation will eventually start sagging past the bottom of the jacket there as well. I hope they fix this but overall I think this is a great jacket and I won’t be buying any more overpriced, made in china arcteryx atoms.
